Waterfront Park
Woodbine has a pleasant Waterfront Park located on the shore of the Satilla River. It offers a boat launch a fishing pier for fishing enthusiasts, covered picnic areas for a cool, dry, place to have lunch, public restrooms, bike racks and parking facilities. Whether its being used as the site of the annual Crawfish Festival or for the site of a wedding or family reunion, the Waterfront Park is a valuable community asset. The Woodbine Farmer’s Market is open at this location each Wednesday and Saturday.
Community Parks
Woodbine has three large parks that provide residents and tourists with sites for softball, baseball, tennis, soccer, football, and many other activities. Cornelia Jackson Memorial Park is the newest of these parks and is named in honor of Ms. Cornelia Jackson, who was a valued community citizen and leader in improving Woodbine. The site has a building that can be used for cookouts, family reunions, birthday parties and other events. There is also a large playground area with playground equipment. The Woodbine Recreation Field is located off Highway 110 and provides access to football, soccer, and baseball fields as well as tennis courts. The Lions Club Recreation Field is located on the corner of Brewster Avenue and Crestview Drive and offers a large baseball field that can also be used for other activities. Bryan-Lang Historical Library
This library, created in 1987, is the repository for the historical and genealogical history of Camden County. The facility is named for Ms. Mary Givens Bryan, former Director of the Georgia Department of Archives and History and Ms. Beatrice "Bebe" F. Lang, a Camden County native. The library is a wonderful place to learn about the history of Camden County, Coastal Georgia, the State of Georgia, and the Southeast United States. Many historical documents and artifacts are on display and the library hosts many lectures and workshops to help those who are interested in learning how to preserve local history. Camden Community Center
This multi-purpose community center is located in the Historic Woodbine School. This schoolhouse was built in 1926 and, through the efforts of the Old School Renovation Committee, was saved and is being renovated as a community center for all Camden County residents. It offers several large classrooms, an auditorium with stage, and an adjacent cafeteria which can be rented for a variety of activities. The Camden Community Center host a night of traditional bluegrass music every Friday night which is enjoyed by local residents, visitors from other states, and those just traveling through. Events
Crawfish Festival
The annual Woodbine Crawfish Festival is held in Woodbine on the last weekend in April each year. The event is held at the Waterfront Park and along the Riverwalk in Downtown Woodbine. It includes food. music, arts and crafts, games, rides, and much more.
Satilla River
The beautiful Satilla River wanders by Woodbine as it makes its way to the Atlantic Ocean. The river provides the city with a natural beauty and serenity and an opportunity for nature enthusiasts to observe abundant birds and wildlife.
Historic District and other Historic Sites
In 1999, eight blocks of the oldest part of Woodbine, including residential and commercial areas, were entered into the National Register of Historic Places. This designation garners national recognition for the significance of Woodbine’s historic and community character. Strategically located for connecting to the rest of the world. Jacksonville International Airport is only 60 minutes away, and the Georgia Port Authority in Brunswick, one of only two deep water ports in Georgia, is 30 minutes to the east. Interstate 95, the main route from Maine to Miami, goes directly through the area, and rail service is also available.
The area has a strong and growing consumer base. Retirees are flocking to the city, thanks to its temperate climate, low taxes, and very low crime rate. Plus, the nearby Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base brings a constant flow of people to the area, boosting the local economy.
